Summary
This NREL project targets the development of a software tool, BEopt-CA (Ex) (Building Energy Optimizer for California Existing Homes), that aims to facilitate balanced integration of energy efficiency, demand response, and energy storage with PV in the residential retrofit market. The intent of the software tool is to provide utility program managers and contractors in the energy efficiency (EE)/demand response (DR)/PV market place with a means of balancing the integration of EE, DR, and energy storage (ES) with PV within the residential retrofit market. The project will use PG&E and SunPower data to validate the prototypes developed in the modeling tool, using a statistical approach. Based on the variety of results obtained by examining different mixtures of EE/DR/ES/PV measures, the NREL team will then develop a recommended series of best practices for integrating PV with EE/DR and ES.
