    Proposals due January 13, 2010 February 16, 2010.

    Draft second grant funding solicitation comments due October 12, 2009.


  • September
    First grant funding solicitations under review.
    Request for comments issued for draft second grant funding solicitation.


  • August
    First grant funding solicitation proposals submitted.


  • July
    First funding solicitation posted on July 8th.
    Pre-proposal webinar scheduled for July 23rd.
    Proposals due August 24th.
    Awards expected to be made in December.
  • June
    First draft solicitation available for public review and comment, to be followed by release of first grant solicitation in early summer.


  • May
    Draft grant solicitation submitted for internal review.


  • March - April
    Project team conducts research on potential targets and partners for collaboration and for solar RD&D.

    RD&D program workplan approved.

    Passage of SB1, the "Million Solar Roofs" bill that created the California Solar Initiative Solar Research, Development, and Deployment (RD&D) program.

    California Solar Initiative begins.

    Request for proposals to manage the RD&D.

    California Public Utilities Commission awards RD&D management contract to Itron, Inc.
